FAQs - Nutrition Talks

Question :
I am a member of the PERNAS Sports Club. I would like to know if it is possible for us to invite you to give a talk on nutrition to our PERNAS staff and Club members ? If yes, what are the pocedures in order for us to do so ? And also the fees ?

Answer :
Yes, members of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia do give talks to various organizations. Either myself or other council members can do that, depending on our availability on the time you have in mind. The Society does not expect a fee for the talk, but it would be good to give a honorarium to the nutritionist giving the talk. It should be at least 1 hour talk, preferably 1.5 hours, to allow for some time to ask questions. We would prefer to have a rather large audience so as to make it worth the while. Let us know your date.
The Society also does screening of various risk factors of heart disease, including blood cholesterol and sugar, body weight, height, body fat, blood pressure and provide nutrition advice. For this we have to charge a fee as the cost of these screening are rather expensive and also tedious. We can also discuss these screening if you are interested.
Do contact me by e-mail, or by phone.
Question :
I am a PR consultant looking for a nutritionist/dietician for an interview on bone-calcium related information. Hope to get in touch with a nutritionist for further discussion.

Answer :
There are several of our members who are conducting research on Calcium. Maybe you should contact Ms Winnie Chee Siew Swee, a dietatin and lecturer at UKM, currently doing her PhD on Bone density and calcium supplementation. Please call for more detail.
Question :
I'm currently involved in Network marketing. One of our main products are food supplements. I would like to enquire if we can invite one of your nutritionist to give us a talk on vitamins, herbs & minerals. Our meeting center is in Setiawangsa. Will there be any charges? Please refer via e-mail if you need further clarification.

Answer :
Our society does not give talks on behalf of private companies. These talks can be misunderstood as endorsing the products. If invididual members wish to do so, it is on their on initiatives, not on behalf of the society.
