THIS HOW YOU EAT ?
Mornings…yuck!!! Who likes having to wake up early
in the morning and rush to school? You'd rather
sleep a few extra minutes, but it doesn't mean that
you should skip breakfast.
With
breakfast, you can run into school with an extra
bounce in your step. It's the first meal of the
day that charges you up with energy and nutrients.
Without breakfast, you might be 'blur' in school
all day long.
Miss
Meals
Do you often skip meals because you're exhausted
after school, trying to lose weight, or just don't
feel like eating sometimes (maybe most times)?
Uh-oh,
we've got bad news. Your body will suffer if you
keep missing meals all the time. You won't have
energy to think, learn and be active, and you won't
get the nutrients for your body to grow and function
properly. Don't think it's a good way to lose weight
either! You'll feel so hungry from skipping one
meal that you might overeat at the next and gain
even more weight.
Fast
Food Freak
So,
you like hanging out in "fast food" joints, huh?
Be careful of what you eat there! Some fast foods
are high in fat, but low in carbohydrates and fibre.
Too much of these foods aren't good for you. It
may make you overweight, or even obese. This may
lead to dangerous diseases like heart attack, stroke,
high blood pressure or diabetes when you're older.
These diseases could rob you of a long and healthy
life.
Snack
Addict
Do you always need to have snacks when you're hanging
out with your friends, or watching TV?
You
could be having a problem if you are snacking all
the time. First, you might be too full (with snacks)
to eat a proper lunch or dinner.
Second,
there are some snacks that are too salty (like chips
and keropok), too sweet (like jeruk and lollipops)
or too creamy (like cakes). These snacks could contain
high calories and hardly any nutrients at all. So
too much could expand your waist size and spell
T-R-O-U-B-L-E for your health.
Sweet
Tooth
Sweets, chocolate, ice-cream - oooh, yummy! But
watch how much you eat as too much of these sweet
things could be bad for your health. They're mostly
made up of simple sugar, so they'll easily add weight
to the scales. Sugary snacks can also spoil your
teeth. Imagine what you'd look like without a nice
set of teeth!
Supper
Supremo
Can't sleep without supper? It means you've got
a bad habit. Eating supper is like loading up on
lots of energy and not burning it up afterwards.
Guess what can happen next? The energy from your
supper gets absorbed into your system and shows
up as body fat!
