Love Your Body

Wish you looked like supermodel or world-class athlete? You're not alone.

But let's face it. You should accept yourself for who you are than to wish you were someone else. You're special and you certainly deserve the best treatment.

What's Your Body Type?

We all come in different shapes and sizes. There are three common ways to categorise body types. Which are you?

  • Ectomorph - someone who is tall, thin and has little body fat
  • Mesomorph - someone whose waist is narrower than the shoulders
  • Endomorph - someone whose waist is wider than the shoulders

It doesn't matter what body type you are, as long as you maintain a healthy body weight. It's a lot easier to ensure that your body is healthy than to change your body type.

How do you know whether your weight is healthy or not?

Nutritionists use a scale called BMI - Body Mass Index - to determine healthy body weight. BMI tells you if you're underweight, overweight, or of healthy weight for your height.

Congratulations! Your BMI is in the healthy range. Keep it up by eating a well-balanced diet, sticking to regular meals and making exercise a part of your life.

TOO SKINNY, TOO FAT - HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF?


So you have a healthy BMI. But do you still think that you are too skinny or too fat? Does this make you unhappy, sad, ashamed or frustrated over your body?

It's not healthy to have these negative feelings about your body. They can make you feel lousy and also lead you to do unnecessary and unhealthy things - like dieting or taking weight-gainers, other food supplements and even medicines!

Hey, you've got a healthy BMI. This means you're already in good shape. You should feel positive about yourself.

Sure, make yourself fitter, trimmer and stronger if you wish. But do it because you love your body, not hate it.

Exercise regularly; it'll tone your muscles and build your body. But for the right results, you must eat regular meals, take only as much as you need and choose nutritious foods. Finally, remember to be patient; give your body the time it needs to shape up naturally.

Love your body, care for it. Your body is you!
