GROWING PAINS

The Teen Years

You may not be as tall or well-developed as your friends yet. Or you may already be towering over them. Strange things could also be happening to your body (like getting your period, if you're a girl; or your voice breaking, if you're a boy).

Don't worry! It's part of growing up that we all have to go through. This is a time when you'll be growing taller and heavier, sometimes at a very fast rate. You'll grow fastest at ages 10-12 (if you're a girl), or at 12-14 (if you're a boy). Girls may suddenly grow as much as 8cm at one point, while boys may suddenly grow as much as 10cm. Different people grow at different rates. So, relax!

Food For Physical Growth

All nutrients are essential to your body. Carbohydrates for energy, protein for building muscles, calcium for strong bones…and the list goes on.

There is no single food or supplement alone that can make you grow tall or strong. The best thing for you is a well-balanced diet of wholesome and nutritious foods.
